Celebrate! 'Tis the Season

Buy Tickets

Kick off the season with an evening of fun!  November 23, 7-10 P.M. at the Oberlin Inn.

The annual fundraising gala for the Oberlin Business Partnership features live music by "Men With Short Beards", one of Oberlin's longest-running jazz and original small groups.  They will play selections including American jazz, progressive rock, soul funk, Motown and contemporary improvisation.  Hannah Levy is the featured vocalist.

The fun-filled evening includes a Lucky Number Auction featuring one-of-a-kind items donated by area merchants and a Showcase Silent Auction featuring several special items.  The Hors D'oeuvres are exceptional and the bar, featuring a 'Tis the Season signature drink, is available all evening.  The Chocolate Fountain is always a yummy crown pleaser.

Don't miss buying tickets for the $1,000 CASH raffle.  Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event.  They are $5 each or 5 for $20.  You do not have to be present to win.

Event tickets are $40 each; $75 a couple; and $300 for a table of eight.  They can be purchased online at www.oberlin.org, in our office at 23 East College Street, Oberlin; or at the event.  Reservations are suggested.

EASTER EGG HUNT

HOP ON DOWN TO DOWNTOWN, BRING YOUR EASTER BASKET, MEET THE EASTER BUNNY, AND FIND LOTS OF EGGS!

Children in three age groups from 0-10 years old enjoy finding filled eggs and taking pictures with the bunny in downtown Oberlin.  They can also enter into a coloring contest by age group to win a family Easter basket full of Obelrin treats.  Pictures will be in Oberlin stores and on the OBP website (see below).  Deadline to turn pictures in is April 17th.  Colored pictures can be turned in at any downtown merchant or at the OBP office at 23 East College Street.

  • 10:45 a.m. - Ages 0 - 3 years old - in the lawn at the New Union Center for Arts; 
  • 11:00 a.m. Ages 4 - 6 years old - in the lawn in front of the Oberlin Inn;
  • 11:15 a.m. Ages 7-10 - in the Southeast corner of Tappan Square.

Coloring contest winners will be contacted before the event and the baskets presented at the egg hunt areas before the egg hunt begins for each age group.

Chalk Walk

Chalk walk is a festive colorful event that celebrates the traditions of sidewalk Painting that began in the 16th century Italy. Master artists, local artists, children and adults use Oberlin Sidewalks as ‘canvases’ to make their own sidewalk creations.

 Registration is on the day of the event only.  Registration tables are located in front of: Ben Franklin, New Union Center for the Arts (FAVA), Hall Auditorium, Lorain National Bank, and just south of the Oberlin Post Office.

The Oberlin Chalk Walk is a festive colorful event that celebrates the tradition of sidewalk painting that began in 16th century Italy.  Master professional artists and several local artists create works of art on pavement all over town.  Sidewalks from the Allen Art Museum to the Public Library and from the college bookstore to the Oberlin Inn will be available for children and adults to use as “canvases” to make their own sidewalk creations.   All skill levels are welcome. High quality pastels are provided to all participants.

Oberlin is a city for the arts.  This is our calling.  This is our strength.  Please come and visit us, whether to just walk around and enjoyed the scene or get down on your knees and create your own work of art.  We think you will like the “vibe.”
