Our mission is to advance and promote the sustainable growth and prosperity of the Oberlin community.

WHO ARE WE? We are partners—individuals, businesses, and community organizations working together to create a vibrant, resilient and prosperous community for all who live, learn, play, work, shop and invest in Oberlin.

OUR VISION: Oberlin is a center of community and economic development. The downtown has an inviting appearance highlighted by historic architecture and enhances the civic, cultural and economic vitality of the entire community. Oberlin is a strong center for business as well as an entertainment and learning destination.

OUR MISSION:  To advance and promote the sustainable growth and prosperity of the Oberlin community.

HOW DO WE PROMOTE GROWTH AND PROSPERITY? Many ways including the following:

  • We promote Oberlin in print, on the radio and television, in social media and the internet, and serve as Oberlin’s visitor resource center.
  • We plan and orchestrate events that bring people to Oberlin to shop, eat, learn, play, and stay.We advocate on behalf of our partners to promote their interests, influence public opinion and policy and validate their critical role on the local economy.
  • We administer the Oberlin Gift Certificate program. Gift certificates are good at all participating Oberlin organizations. In 2018, certificates valuing more than $7,800 were purchased.
  • We manage the “Keep Oberlin Beautiful” programs including the hanging flower baskets, the street banners painted by Oberlin High School students, the Keep Oberlin Beautiful Ambassadors Program, nd downtown sidewalk cleaning from April through November each year.
  • Our volunteers give of their time and ideas in work teams and committees to plan and implement events, generate marketing and promotion opportunities, represent our partners positions; and work with community partners to improve the physical appearance of our city. Oh yes…they also have fun!

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO? We want to ensure that Oberlin remains a desirable and vibrant community—one where families are respected and nourished; businesses are profitable and sustainable; people of every race and socio-economic status are welcomed and encouraged.
